Clothespin Reindeer Ornament
My mom learned this from a friend of her's and we have been making them since I was probably about in 1st grade. As a child I loved making them! As a mother, I love teaching my children how to make them. I hope this gives them something to remember at Christmas time when they are grown & have children of their own.
Have fun & I hope that you enjoy them as much as we do!
Materials:
Three wooden clothespins
Scraps of red, green and black felt
2 - 5 or 6mm Googly eyes
1 - 10mm red pompom
1 - 10mm white pompom
5 (or 8) - 5 mm red sequins
Thin gold braid/thread
1 Gold 10mm jingle bell
Craft glue
Directions:
Glue two clothespins side by side (for body and legs). Glue one clothespin upside down next to the others (face and antlers). You can have the reindeer looking to the side or forward.
Cut out and glue on felt pieces
One red piece 2 1/2" x 1/2" with rounded corners for the saddle blanket
One green piece 2" by 1/4" for the saddle blanket
Two (or four for a forward facing reindeer) pieces of black approximately 1/4" x 3/8" with a tiny triangle piece snipped out of the bottom for hooves.
Two small diamonds in green for holly leaves at the base of the antlers.
Glue felt pieces in place.
Glue on googly eyes, red pompom for nose and white pompom for tail.
Glue red sequins to the felt at the base of the antlers, to the bottom of the green saddle blanket, and on each hoof.
Secure jingle bell on gold thread with a slipknot. Tie thread around the neck and knot at the top of the reindeer so the bell is around the reindeer's neck. Knot the top of the thread for hanging.
